About Us

The Caldwell Arts Council has promoted and presented high quality arts in Caldwell County North Carolina since 1976. It is our mission to establish and maintain an awareness and appreciation of cultural arts in Caldwell County by encouraging participation in arts events, and offering various educational opportunities and administrative services that support artists, arts agencies, and audiences. Every year, our community programs and events reach:
   12,000+ youth
     6,000+ adults
     4,000+ Sculpture Celebration attendees
     3,000+ JAM performance attendees

Located in an historic former home in downtown Lenoir, the Caldwell Arts Council offers five beautiful galleries that serve as exhibition spaces for local and regional artists. While the Arts Council is temporarily closed to the public due to COVID-19, exhibits range from contemporary and traditional paintings to fine craft, sculpture and photography.

Caldwell Arts Council also owns a permanent sculpture collection of over 80 pieces. These indoor and outdoor artworks are displayed all over Caldwell County and are periodically moved to new locations. Click for our current inventory. If you would like to search for your favorites, refer to our sculpture map, courtesy of the Google Data Center located here in our county.

In addition, the Arts Council exhibits sculptures along the streets of downtown Lenoir in Tucker's Gallery, which is a partnership with the City of Lenoir. These pieces are on loan from artists for up to one year, and are available for sale. Click to discover current works.

Our annual Sculpture Celebration offers the public a unique opportunity to view hundreds of sculptures created by artisans from across the United States, who compete for recognition and cash awards. This event typically occurs on the Saturday after Labor Day in the beautiful Broyhill Walking Park.

We offer many other programs including the Caldwell Visual Artists Competition, Caldwell JAM (Junior Appalachian Musicians), Artist-in-Schools, poetry competitions, the Exposures photography competition, and more. We actively strive to improve the quality of life of our residents and hope that you will join us by donating today. Simply click the icon at the top of this page.

As a nonprofit organization, the Caldwell Arts Council is funded by a combination of support from the National Endowment for the Arts, the North Carolina Arts Council, corporate and private donations, grant funding, foundation support, fundraising events, program income, and donors.
