WHAT DOES THE CALDWELL ARTS COUNCIL DO FOR CALDWELL COUNTY?

The Caldwell Arts Council does so much for our community through our many programs. All programs of the CAC are either free or low cost. Our biggest program is Artists-in-Schools. This program reaches every K-8 Caldwell County Schools student at least once a year, and often times many more. We do this by offering high quality, educational touring arts performances at the JE Broyhill Civic Center. These performances rival what is offered by bigger cities. We also offer an afterschool music program that teaches the traditional music of this region. Additionally, we hold student art competitions and exhibits and offer grant funds for art projects in the classroom. Lastly, we offer 2 kids camps in the summer for music and art.

In addition to Artists-in-Schools, our second largest program is our annual Sculpture Celebration. This is our signature event that draws over 3000 people to the Broyhill Walking Park to experience art on a grand scale (many sculptures have to be brought in with a boom truck!). Sculptors come from all over the country to compete for $11,000 in prize money. This event is free to the public, and is held the Saturday after Labor Day annually.

Our exhibits program is what we are most known for and we are very proud to display amazing art in our 3 gallery spaces: 1 or 2 month long exhibits in our facility at 601 College Ave., Lenoir; Art in Healing Gallery at the Caldwell Memorial Hospital; and Tucker's outdoor sculpture gallery in downtown Lenoir. We also are proud of our 83 piece permanent sculpture collection found all over Caldwell County.

And those are just a few of our programs! Click here to see a more complete list.
