Twenty-seven middle school students in grades 6-8 recited classic/famous poetry in the 8th Annual Recitation Competition, sponsored by the Caldwell Arts Council and the Caldwell County School System.
Students were expected to memorize and recite a classic or famous poem two and a half to three minutes in length to participate in the countywide event.
Top finishers this year were:
1st Place Brandon Trivette, 8th Grade, Hudson Middle School
2nd Place Joshua Kirby, 6th Grade, Heritage Christian School
3rd Place Kyre Gleaton, 8th Grade, Happy Valley School
4th Place Alana Hamby, 7th Grade, Heritage Christian School
5th Place Maggie Auton, 6th Grade, Oak Hill School
Merit Award Andy Kincaid, 8th Grade, Heritage Christian School
Merit Award Brian Fox, 8th Grade, William Lenoir Middle School
Merit Award Bryson Penley, 8th Grade, Hudson Middle School
