Portfolio Submission Guidelines for Exhibitions

Caldwell Arts Council accepts portfolio submissions in late December/early January to consider for exhibition 13-24 months later (i.e., we’ll accept portfolio submissions through January 11, 2013 to consider for the 2014 exhibit year).

We have two galleries: the Caldwell Arts Council gallery hosts monthly changing exhibits typically featuring artwork by three or more artists.  The Caldwell Memorial Hospital Art-in-Healing Gallery (MRI wing, Mulberry Street entrance) hosts quarterly changing exhibits typically featuring up to 25 works by one artist or a group.

Your submission can be presented in two ways. (No slides & no email & no printed photo submissions please.)

(1)-Mail a CD with at least seven good quality digital images of your work. These images should be a good representation of the work you wish to exhibit at the Arts Council, or similar to work you intend to create for the exhibit.

(2)-Direct us to your website, with specific instructions to guide us to the selections of art you wish to exhibit.

Each image should be labeled with the size of the piece, medium, year created, and title. You may include a separate page if you are sending a CD.

Briefly state your exhibition idea. How many art objects? Is there a theme? Do you want to exhibit with another specific artist? (Have them send their portfolio to us as well.) What is unique about your work?

Write a little about yourself, your exhibition experience, group or one-person shows and your training, if any. Include your artist statement and bio.

Mailing address is:  Exhibit Selection Committee, Caldwell Arts Council, PO Box 1613 (shipping address is 601 College Avenue SW), Lenoir NC 28645

Thank you for your interest in exhibiting at Caldwell Arts Council. The individuals who jury our exhibits are selected based on their geographical and art form diversity, and include a combination of both curators and artists. You will be notified in mid-to-late February of the jury’s decision regarding your artwork.
